Junkers Battle Aircraft
Junkers Combat Jet Aircraft Project
from Herwig/Rhode "Geheimprojekte der Luftwaffe III"
In 1941 Junkers started a developement for a jet driven combat aircraft. It seems as if no EF-designator was used for this aircraft. In sofar it probably was just a project study, which was never published outside the Junkers design offices. This interesting design had two jet engines, which were integrated into the wing structure. The main undercarriage was located in the very rear section of the fuselage and was retracted into the fuselage, while a ski system was used instead of a front wheel. Fuselage and engines were specially armoured for ground attacks.
The proposed engine was a Daimler Benz ZTL-007 bypass engine, which was under developement at Daimler Benz at the beginning of the fourties. Probably due to the slow jet engine developement in Germany, this project might have been dropped quickly.
